Spring Break Staycation Survival Guide: Family Friendly idea's for a Stress-Free & Fun Week at Home

After taking a poll on my instagram account, I found most families are staying home rather than traveling this spring break and requested fun and stress-free staycation ideas!

Staycations can be just as fun as traveling and much more budget friendly. However, they can also be overwhelming with everybody at home all week, but with some planning you can create the perfect week and keep those kiddos busy with some creative entertainment. Here are 8 family friends staycation ideas you can do for spring break:

  1. Exploring Your Hometown like a Tourist: Research some new local places your family has been, such as any new restaurants, landmarks etc.

  2. Tech free day: Declare a tech-free day where everyone unplugs from screens and spends quality time together without distractions. Play board games, have meaningful conversations, or engage in outdoor activities without the interference of devices.

  3. Family Picnic: Find a beautiful spot for a picnic, bring some games and enjoy the outdoors.

  4. Family Fitness Challenge: Stay active together by organizing a family fitness challenge. Whether it's going on a family walk or bike ride, or having a sports tournament in the backyard, make staying active fun for everyone.

  5. DIY home improvement's: Take on a small house project this week as a family such as rearranging furniture, building an outdoor playhouse, or painting a room. Its a great way to bond, get everyone excited while marking more off your todo list.

  6. Movie Marathon: Take a whole day, make some homemade snacks, and watch all your favorite family friendly movies! If possible you could make this more exciting by building an indoor movie room, or getting a projector to watch movies in the backyard.

  7. Backyard camping adventure: Set up some tents, build a fire, and go stargazing. Take away the stresses of going on a camping trip and just do it in your backyard!

  8. Arts and crafts: Pick up some supplies and have a family art night. A few ideas include painting, tie-dye, embroidery, clay sculpting and making a DIY terrarium.

Spring Break doesn't have to add more stress or break the bank but can be a great time for families to spend quality time together without spending tons of money.

What was your favorite spring break activity?
